Hi Nex Playground team,
I wanted to give some honest feedback about the way the games and Play Pass are currently structured, because it’s honestly putting me off purchasing the device.
The device is £269.99, which is already a significant amount of money for a family to spend. However, for that price you only get a handful of basic games, and then you’re expected to pay an additional £45 for 3 months of Play Pass, or £90 for 12 months - and even then, you’re limited to the games included within the subscription.
What I don’t understand is why there isn’t an option to simply purchase individual games that we actually want. If there’s a particular game our family likes, I would much rather pay £10–£20 for that game and own it, rather than having to pay for a subscription just to access it.
I also think the device should come with at least a 3-month Play Pass included. At £269.99, that would give families a genuine opportunity to try the device properly, see whether their children actually enjoy it, and establish whether it’s suitable for their family before having to spend another £45.
At the moment, it feels like you’re asking customers to make a £270 commitment without really being able to experience the full product first. Then, if we want access to more than the five games included, we have to commit to another payment for a subscription, despite there being no option to just buy the games we want.
I appreciate that subscriptions are increasingly common, but from a customer’s perspective, the current setup feels unnecessarily restrictive and, honestly, a little cloak-and-dagger. It makes it difficult to understand exactly what you’re getting for £269.99 and what the true ongoing cost of owning the device will be.
I genuinely think offering a 3-month Play Pass with the device, alongside the option to purchase individual games, would make the product much more appealing and would give customers far more confidence when deciding whether to buy.
I’d really appreciate it if you could explain why individual game purchases aren’t currently an option and whether this is something Nex Playground is considering in the future.
Thanks.
