Ability to purchase single game titles outside of subscription model
David Lee
Mike Rusnak, can you elaborate your worry about subscription? If it is about recurring payment. The Play Pass you get from our retail partners is one-off. You can also cancel recurring payment through Shopify if you purchase directly from us. We are working to make manage subscription as easy as possible.
The promise of Play Pass is simple: we work our socks off to make new games and game updates, if you like what we do for the year, we hope to earn you as a customer for another year.
We like this model alot. It's honest, simple, sustainable, no ads, no nags. It provides us the resources to build a library for the whole community of users. It fully aligns Nex's interest with our customers.
While I understand the desire to purchase individual games, Nex would not be able to make such model sustainable. Sustainable is the keyword here.
The a la carte purchase model is only viable when the underlying platform have 10s of millions of distribution, and have a developer ecosystem who would invest millions in each of the games and expects to sell millions of copies when they release it.
The state of the Nex ecosystem is very different. We took the lesson learnt by Wii and Kinect before us. Our ex-Nintendo Wii, ex-Xbox Kinect advisor advise us against a la carte model.
While we work with our partner Target to make Playground more giftable with the Sports Pack, there is no plan to make games available a la carte.
I hope you understand our intention and limitations. Happy to answer any additional questions you may have.

Not to be a downer, but this has been brought up countless times in the FB group over the past year, and every time, David Lee has carefully explained why the Nex team realized that an individual game model wasn’t feasible for them. (They had originally planned to offer the option.)
Mike Rusnak
Bevin Meadows I can understand not all the games can be sold under this model. However, they do have original titles that aren't IP related that could either be sold separately or included with the console. I just think an option to add a couple more titles to your current line up without a subscription should be available.

Mike Rusnak, it isn’t just about external IPs, though. I think their sports pack is a good compromise. Maybe they could offer other packs like a “party pack” that would include several games designed for 4+ players.
