This idea started from wanting a nice relaxing game like luminous, but fish related. You could swim around at your own pace through an infinite generative level design where there is no right or wrong turns. The further you explore, the more possible types of environments you can explore. I see this gentle game where you just swim around and relax as one of several modes for this untitled fish game.
The other modes this game could offer are:
- Relaxed swim: As mentioned above. Not quite the main game, but an easier and more relaxed version with calming music and visuals.
- Aquarium: Play with the fish you currently have unlocked or kept for your tank. This would be like another super simple mode with fish interaction but more like a mode of mirrorama.
- Aquarium builder. Earn different pieces of scenary through discovering them or earning enough in game currency to unlock. Build your own dream aquarium! Some scenery pieces could be interactive and make fun musical tones or animation.
- Survival: How long can you survive in the wild? This game will use the same mechanics as mentioned above, but now with enemies big and small. Eat the smaller fish without you getting eaten yourself. The more fish you eat, the bigger you get. However, you may grow out of some smaller safe areas in caves or coral reef which used to be available for you to hide in. You also want to avoid any fish hooks and lures.
- Go fishing: Be that fishman in the boat that snags your fishy friends. Any fish you catch will help you level up. Keep your fish or sell/trade it for different supplies to help you level up your game, like different lures, different bait, different fish, or special abilities while you are a fish (shield, earn more currency, eliminate obsracles, etc.)
- Party mode: Optional. Maybe instead of fish, you could be mermaids? Or narwhals? Or manatees? (You get the idea) Maybe all of this could be in a party mode where its more about the fantasy creatures and fun? Vibrant colors and energetic music. Race through hoops in multiplayer.
I think this could wrap up several different modes of game play all under a single untitled fish-related game. This could be ideal for the whole family to play together, where every family member could help each other out by completing their fish related tasks and unlocking things for the other modes.
