Clay Boss Bug

My kids can’t figure out how to beat the clay clay boss on doodle heads. I feel like something’s wrong cause it stops shooting out poop after a minute and then no matter how many times they shoot at it the bosses health doesn’t go down at all. And then the boss just stays at the top and stops moving. Anyone know what we’re doing wrong?
