a destruction-based racing game

There was an old playstation game I loved called Destruction Derby, which was a racing game, but part of the fun was crashing into opponents/obstacles and your car would get destroyed. Obviously there would not be real-life crashing! But in-game crashing has the potential for a lot of fun, family interaction, and creativity. Jumping or squatting could be power ups.
